Do not force the item through the space
Measure the item and the narrowest doorway or turn if access looks tight. Remove loose contents and clear nearby breakables, but leave risky disassembly or heavy lifting for the assessment.
Tell the crew about weak floors, tight stairs, missing handrails, elevator requirements, or street-access limits before arrival.
Municipal pickup may fit some jobs
Brooklyn publishes rules for scheduled special pickups of certain large household items. That option can work when you can move an accepted item to the tree lawn within the city’s timing rules.
Private removal may be a better fit when the item is inside, labor is needed, several rooms are involved, or the schedule does not line up with municipal collection.
